Dianne Harrison - Principal
Dianne began her ballet training at the age of five with Gay Wightman School of Ballet and studied the Borovansky method to Advanced level. She later trained at the National Ballet Theatre under the guidance of Gailene Stock and Gary Norman. After returning to ballet in later years, Dianne recognised the need for adult opportunities in ballet and established Elancé Adult Ballet School Pty Ltd in 2002.
Rosemary Robenn - Senior Teacher
Rosemary holds the Royal Academy of Dancing Teaching Diploma and comes to Elancé with over 30 years teaching experience. A former member of the Queensland Ballet Company, Rosemary taught for several years at Ecole Classique (NSW) under Prudence Bowen, RAD examiner, prior to managing her own ballet studios in Taree, NSW and Hobart, Tasmania. In 2003, Rosemary accepted a six month contract to teach at Kondo Ballet, Japan. Rosemary joined the Elancé staff in June 2004.
Belle McDonagh - Teacher
Belle completed her Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts in 1999, and was the recipient of the De Gruchy Award for Excellence in Classical Ballet in 1998. Whilst at VCA Belle had the opportunity to work with Dance Theatre of Harlem for their Firebird season which formed part of the 1999 Melbourne Festival. Post studying Belle undertook freelance performance work and travelled widely. Following her return to Melbourne, Belle completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Arts Management and has been teaching with Elancé Adult Ballet School for two years.
Helen Penna - Teacher
Helen began her classical training at the age of four, and attained her Cecchetti Advanced exam at the Shirlene School of Classical Ballet. She attended the Victorian College of the Arts, after which she was accepted into the Australian Ballet School. Following her graduation from the Australian Ballet School, Helen pursued her ballet career in Austria where she remained for 6 years, dancing with the Volksopera and Bühnen Graz companies.
Amanda Falson- Teacher
Amanda began her ballet training at four years of age in the Cecchetti method under Sharon Read-Harber. She then trained as an actor at the Victorian College of the Arts, completing the Bachelor of Dramatic Art in 2001. In 2009 she completed her Associate Cecchetti Teacher's Certificate and Advanced ballet exams as well as a Cert IV in Pilates Instruction. She is continuing to study for her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction and remains a freelance actor. Amanda joined the Elance staff in February 2008.
Megan O'Kane - Teacher
(F.C.B.A - C.I.C.B., 21727VIC Certificate IV in Teaching Cecchetti Classical Ballet) Freelance teacher and choreographer. Megan was born in New Zealand but trained with Kira Bousloff and Shelley Rae in Perth , WA . When Megan came to Melbourne in 1994 she studied with Lorraine Blackbourn (OAM) at the Heidelberg & District Ballet School . Megan is an active member of Cecchetti Ballet Australia and received her Fellowship status in 2006.
Tamsin Magnay - Teacher
Tamsin undertook her early years of dance training at the Parkwood Dance Academy and the Lynn McNabb Academy of Ballet. In 2001 Tamsin joined the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary College, achieving her Intermediate level in ballet and was granted the Martin Rubinstein Award (CSTD). Tamsin was an active member of the performing group, "Glow", from 2004 to 2008, touring extensively throughout Australia's rural communities. Having taught ballet, contemporary and jazz for several years in Melbourne, Tamsin joined the Elancé staff in 2009.
Gerald Desmier - Teacher
Gerald is a graduate of the Stella Mann College of Dance in London where he studied Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, European Folk Dance, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Music and Drama. He received his early dance training at the Lilian Attard Ballet Studio in Malta and holds the Teacher's Certificate of the Royal Academy of Dance, and the Associate Diploma in Imperial Ballet and National Dance from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing. Gerald has worked extensively as a teacher, adjudicator and examiner for various dance schools in the UK and Australia. He is an accomplished choreographer and has composed for musicals, opera and TV.
