Welcome to Timothy Harbour

We are delighted to announce that Timothy Harbour has joined Elancé! At the end of 2007 Tim retired as a Senior Artist with the Australian Ballet and is now working as a freelance choreographer and teacher. Tim will conduct a 10 week pas de deux course at the Footscray studio on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm. It is a privilege to offer this course under the tutelage of such a respected member of the ballet community.

Tim has a Scholarship, Post-Graduate Diploma in Classical Dance Teaching from Melbourne University/Victorian College of the Arts and in 1994 he completed the Diploma of Dance from the Australian Ballet School .

Tim choreographed ‘Wa' for The Australian Ballet. This premiered in Sydney to wide critical acclaim. He also choreographed ‘Schattenwelt' for The Queensland Ballet and ‘Ignis' for The Australian Ballet School's ‘Morning Melodies' programme.

He has recently been commissioned to develop and choreograph performances for The Australian Ballet School, The Dancer's Company and The Australian Ballet. Interestingly, Tim also choreographed ‘Live 08', a production for circus group ‘Cirque Vie'.

Since retiring from the Australian Ballet, Tim has also been busy conducting workshops and sessional training for dance students and established artists from The Australian Ballet, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australian Dance Theatre, Sydney Dance Company, Victorian College of the Arts, The National Institute for Circus Arts and Acrobatics Victoria. These programs encompass rehearsal, interpretation and performance as well as daily exercises and conditioning to improve technical standards, fitness and suppleness.

Tim was invited to join the dance panel of The Greenroom Awards and is a member of the Victorian branch committee of the Australian institute of Classical Dance .

Last year Tim choreographed ‘Fielder' for The Australian Ballet. This performance premiered in Sydney and featured in The Melbourne International Arts Festival.

In 2006 Tim choreographed ‘Eve' and in 2005 ‘Sunken Waltz' for The Australian Ballet, with ‘Sunken Waltz' being nominated as Best New Work in Dance Australia 's Critic's Choice Awards.

From 1995 to 2006 Tim performed in numerous works from the traditional and contemporary repertoires as a Principal and leading dancer. He worked closely with acclaimed Australian choreographers including Graeme Murphy, Stephen Page, Stephen Baynes, Meryl Tankard, Stanton Welch and Natalie Weir. Tim also featured in master-works by Jiri Kylian, William Forsythe, George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, Maurice Bejart, Christopher Wheeldon and Nacho Duato.

Tim performed in international productions with The Australian Ballet in Europe, the United Kingdom , United States of America , Japan , New Zealand , Singapore and China and has toured as a Senior Artist with The Australian Ballet throughout Australia . He has also performed as a guest dancer with The Royal Swedish Ballet.
